Izzy has been surrounded by music all her life. Her first love, at the age of 5 years old, was an old piano from the early 1900. She experienced the music on the scene for the first time at the age of 11, at a classical concert in Chicoutimi.

 

In december 2005, Izzy was asked randomly to play djembe in a bar for the first time even though she never played percussions before. That night, she got back on scene for the first time with a new instrument. It seemed so natural and she could express herself with such an ease....Izzy fell in love again with the stage, her hands hitting the skin, creating astonishing sounds.

 



 

She started to join some bands who appreciated her rythms on the blues/rock scenes of Montreal.... "loved it so much, ... forgot the pain". Then met more and more talented musicians on the great scenes of Quebec... Izzy performed on great stages such as; Just for laugh festival, Monument Nationnal, Place des Art, Tohu, Bell Center (January 2007), Jazz Festival and many more... The young percussionnist also took part of the Insolita production, has been the percussionnist coordinator at the Nasyrium Drum camp (Giovanni Hidalgo/Raul Rekow/Horacio Ernandez/Dennis Chambers/Mike Mangini and Kenwood Dennard).

 

Izzy is now playing with Maloukai, Sola & Las Lolas, Boum-Boum productions , Amarula promotion, Robert Stefan and got a big new project coming up soon... At this point, she plays Bongos, Derbouka, Djembe, Congas, shakers of all kinds, cajun, douns, repenique, timbao and a bit of piano ;)
